Piano and Organ Recital at Brecksville UMC
Sonatas, Fantasias, and Clock Pieces,
a piano and organ recital by Jay Krasnow will be presented on Saturday,
October 2, at 7:30 pm at Brecksville United Methodist Church. A native
of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Krasnow has resided in Cleveland since 2004
and has found his niche performing ‘composed improvisations’ and
meditations in styles rooted in numerous folk and art musics of the
world. He also specializes in rare late-period piano works by Ferenc
(Franz) Liszt and other Hungarian contemporaries from the 1860s
onward—some for left-hand only. The
October 2 concert features music by C. P. E. Bach, in fitting tribute to
the 300th birthday of his brother, W. F. Bach. This is the
first concert of the 2010 – 2011 Concert Series at Brecksville United
Methodist Church, which is located at 65 Public Square in Brecksville.
All concerts take place in the Sanctuary, and are free and open to the
public. Visit the church website for more information (www.brecksvilleumc.com)
or call the church office: 440-526-8938. |

From Broadway UMC:
Would you be interested in volunteer opportunities but you do not want the feeling of being "committed for life" to one particular project? Well, Cleveland: Broadway UMC has three short-term volunteer opportunities for you. A) Volunteer during the tax season (February-April) and provide free tax service to low-moderate income families. Help them apply for earned income and child care credits. This is a software/menu driven program. SET YOUR OWN SCHEDULE. Training is provided. B) Volunteer one week of the month eight (8) hours as "Pantry Day" coordinator. Volunteers are asked to commit to three (3) consecutive months. Orientation is provided for volunteers. C) Volunteer eight (8) hours a month with the Safe Haven program. You will give academic support to CMSD students assigned to this off-site school suspension program.
