JUNE 27 IS SUMMERFEST 2009 AT CHURCH OF THE SAVIOUR

Join us on Saturday, June 27 as Church of the Saviour open the doors on a fun-filled event. SummerFest 2009 features live bands; a 52-foot long inflatable obstacle course; a dunk tank (new this year!); kids’ Fun Zone with games, prizes, face painting, puppet theater and clowns; a team pie-eating contest; popsicles and cotton candy; hamburger, hot dogs and sodas; some special visitors; and tours. The event concludes with a free, indoor, family-friendly movie beginning at 9:00 p.m. on two big screens.
The date is
Saturday, June 27 from 5:00-11:00 p.m. with fun and events for all ages. Admission is free and the event is open to the community. Game tickets are $.25 each and food is for sale. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for the movie. This is the most fun you will have all summer!
SummerFest 2009 is also time to make a difference as we support youth mission and work projects in our local neighborhoods and around the nation. All proceeds support this summer’s
youth mission trip to Sciotoville, Ohio, our chance to provide assistance to families unable to care for their homes themselves. We will do all sorts of work from building wheelchair ramps to pouring cement to painting houses and anything in-between.
Fun, food and games on a summer evening, SummerFest 2009 is a safe place for the whole family to have a great time, meet new neighbors and see old friends.
Church of the Saviour is located at 2537 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, one block North of Fairmount Blvd. Free parking. ###

HOW TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH DONORS ABOUT PLANNED GIFTS

DECEMBER 9, 1:00 p.m. at the North Coast District Office UMC. Presenter: Kathryn W. Miree, J.D. Fundraisers and volunteers have a natural fear of the planned giving conversation, worried that it requires a discussion of technical issues – or worse, the donor’s death. This practical session will help you overcome those fears to have conversations that will increase your organization’s long-term (and even short-term) revenue. You will learn how to identify the top planned gift and endowment prospects, prepare for the conversation, setup the visit, use volunteers on the call, define the roles of each party on the call, and how to open, advance and finish the conversation. To register call the district office special events line: 216/441-4580.

  PEDALING PARSONS

The Pedaling Parsons began with a small group of Methodist cyclists in 1987 that shared a passion for cycling and mission. They had the idea that instead of just riding for fun and fitness, they could ride to make a difference by raising money for mission.

We are not all "parsons" and we don't all pedal. We are Methodist pastors and laypersons. Some of us ride bikes and others are part of the support team that keeps us on the road, gets us to our destination, refreshes and feeds us on the tour and helps us when we break down, get lost, or get hurt.
